Top 5 tips on SEO and web design

Search engines provide great and fast results to the people who are using them. If they see a page with a website which gets tons of traffic, they believe it is important and that is something what people want. The question is – how do you get there? Well, a good start can be by creating a great content which people want to see and read. Don’t forget to update your content and to keep the things fresh. These methods can help you to attract more traffic and make your site more important to the search engine.


2. Use keywords appropriately
A lot of site developers stuff their pages with keywords. Keep in mind that search engine engineers are not stupid and that they will see this tricks. In order to trick them, don’t use keywords mindlessly, try to use them appropriately. This means, use them specifically in : page titles, links, headers. And remember – do not abuse the key words. Try to use them intelligently and in the proper context.

3. Write clean code
This means that search engines like to see nice mark-up. It is easily to read what is on a site and what is on its pages. Also, eliminate code bloat and make the appropriate use of tags. What you need to do is: eliminate any broken or bad links, use only h1 tag and all the other header tags appropriate, make sure your page load times as small as possible, ensure that your code is semantically correct.

4. Write proper page titles
Make sure that your page title consists of 60 characters or less. The most of the search engines won’t display anything more than that. Also, make sure that the title includes a accurate and short summary of the page content followed by website’s name.

5. Construct proper links
Always define accurately what someone will get if they click on a link. For example, ‘Download the full report’ or ‘review the guidelines’ sounds much better than ‘Download’ or ‘Click here’. This is good for both sides – the user experience and for search engines as they pay special attention to the links a page contains.


6. Use HTML text
We can use custom fonts when and where they are needed with modern browsers. Take advantage of this technology and use as much live HTML text as possible. This helps for search engines to index these elements.

7. Use Google’s tools.
The good thing is that Google provides us with a ton of great tools which we can use for SEO optimization. Try to use these: Google analytic – for tracking your visitors, Google webmaster tools and Google keyword suggestion tool. This three Google tools can be very helpful for you.
